In-N-Out Burger files plan for its first Tennessee restaurant

The company will invest $125.5 million in its first expansion east of Texas. It recently filed plans to build its first restaurant in Tennessee.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In-N-Out Burger recently filed plans on where it intends to build its first restaurant in Tennessee.

Gov. Bill Lee announced in January that In-N-Out Burger will establish an eastern corporate office south of Nashville in Franklin, according to a press release.

The Southern California company will invest $125.5 million in its first expansion east of Texas.

Construction on the office will begin by late 2024 and should be completed by 2026. The project will create 277 new jobs, according to the January release.

In-N-Out said it plans to open future restaurants in the region, beginning with locations in and around Nashville by 2026

The city of Franklin recently posted a notice for an upcoming virtual meeting that contains plans for the restaurant and eastern office. The company is planning to build the two next to each other along the Goose Creek Bypass, which is off Exit 61 on Interstate 65.

The city will hold a virtual meeting on Zoom to discuss the plans with the public on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.

"In-N-Out Burger is a great family business that has been operating for decades in this country with a value system and a way of serving their customers that lines up just right here in Tennessee," Lee said.

In-N-Out Burger is a popular Southern California burger chain that, until the past couple of decades, hadn't ventured out of the West Coast.
