Former Tennessee quarterback, Josh Dobbs, signs 1-year deal with San Francisco 49ers

Dobbs will be reunited with Jauan Jennings. The two connected on one of the most iconic Vol football plays on a Hail Mary to beat Georgia in 2016.

SAN FRANCISCO — Former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs has found a new NFL home.

The VFL is signing a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, in which he will be a backup to quarterback Brock Purdy. With the signing, Dobbs joins the Super Bowl runner-ups and is reunited with former Vol Jauan Jennings.

Dobbs and Jennings connected on one of the most remembered plays in Vol football history on a Hail Mary to beat Georgia in 2016.

Dobbs is coming off a season where he played for the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings in the regular season. He made 12 starts and played in 13 games totaling 2,464 passing yards, 421 rushing yards and 19 total touchdowns. He also threw ten interceptions.
