HOOVER, Ala. — Tennessee baseball won the SEC Championship game against LSU in Hoover, Alabama on Sunday afternoon. The 4-3 win against the Tigers gave Tennessee Baseball its fifth conference tournament championship in program history.

In the bottom of the first, the Tigers struck first with a solo 471-yard bomb from Jared Jones to give LSU a 1-0 lead.

Tennessee returned the favor at the top of the third with a Billy Amick three-run homer to make it a 3-1 game. His big blast plated Christian Moore and Blake Burke to put the Vols in front.

In the top of the fifth, the Vols had players on corners but couldn't secure a run to extend their lead. The score remained the same until Hunter Ensley singled up the middle to score Amick in the top of the seventh to make the score 4-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, LSU scored two runs to cut into the lead, however, the Tigers couldn't get enough to tie things up or take the lead thanks to an impressive pitching effort from Tennessee's bullpen.

Specifically, Dylan Loy threw for a career-high four innings against LSU. He had five strikeouts, only allowed two hits and kept the Tigers scoreless during his time on the mound.

The win marks Tennessee's first conference tournament victory since 2022. The team has now won two SEC tournament titles under head coach Tony Vitello.

Next, the NCAA baseball selection show starts at noon on Monday, May 30, and will be aired on ESPN2. The Vols will discover their seed for the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
