Northbound Spur reopens between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge after mudslide

The road reopened around 5 p.m. after crews cleared a mudslide from the road that occurred Monday night.

The Northbound Spur (US 441) between Westgate and Beech Brand Road has reopened.

A mudslide fell Monday evening and covered approximately 100 feet of both northbound lanes past Westage Resorts Road.

Crews began clearing the debris Tuesday morning. It contained an estimated 500 cubic yards of material and was around 100 feet long and 70 feet high. Staff estimated that the removal would require at least 45 dump truck loads to be hauled away.

Traffic had been detoured along a detour through Little Smoky Road to Beech Brand Road. Larger trucks were being detoured east to Highway 321 to use alternate routes.
