KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said that a statewide effort is using every resource at its disposal, "including contract crews," to repair damaged roads as quickly as possible after last January's winter storm.

According to TDOT, it has laid more than double the amount of mix in the first two months of this year compared to the same months last year. TDOT will continue to focus on road repairs as the weather allows for the coming weeks. However, more permanent repairs will be scheduled for spring and summer when the necessary hot mix is being produced more regularly.

TDOT said that full-scale paving may be necessary on some roads.

"Drivers should be prepared for short-term traffic delays during these pothole repair operations. While every effort will be made to perform repairs during off-peak travel times," TDOT said.

A release said the delays would mostly be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
