'Fight Flu Day' | Knox Co. Health Dept. offering free flu shots on Nov. 1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — People in Knox County will have a chance to get vaccinated against the flu for free on Nov. 1. The Knox County Health Department said they would be providing free flu shots as part of "Fight Flu Day."

The health department said the shots would be offered as part of a statewide exercise meant to help keep communities in Tennessee healthy.

The health department said even though the flu usually causes mild symptoms, but can lead to serious outcomes. The Tennessee Department of Health said some people, such as older people or people living with some health conditions, can be at high risk of flu complications.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people six months old or older get a flu vaccine every year.

KCHD said more information about specific locations and times to get a free flu shot would be available later.
