THP: Two people killed in wreck on Clinton Highway

A THP report said a 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling south when it crossed over double yellow lines and struck a 2021 Kia Sorento head-on.

CLINTON, Tennessee — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said two people are dead after a wreck on Clinton Highway. 

The wreck happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday near the Anderson-Knox County line. The THP report said a 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling south when it crossed over double yellow lines and struck a 2021 Kia Sorento head-on.

The driver of the Nissan, 30-year-old Shelby Russell, died. They were not wearing a seatbelt, according to THP. 

The passenger in the Kia, 78-year-old Janie S. Ballinger, died. The driver of the Kia survived, but was hurt, THP said.
