KPD to hold sobriety checkpoint on Kingston Pike

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, October 27 and will take place on Kingston Pike. 

Officers are on the lookout for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, KPD said the checkpoint helps prevent serious or fatal crashes and increases public awareness.

Over 43% of Knoxville's fatal 2022 crashes had possible alcohol or drug impairment, according to KPD. 

A DUI checkpoint trailer provided through the Tennessee High Safety Office Traffic Services grant at no cost to Knoxville taxpayers will be used during the October 27th sobriety checkpoint.   

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, buckle up, reduce distractions pay attention to the road and never drive while under the influence.
